The Recipe

2 cups sugar

1 cup cooking oil

3 eggs

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon cloves

2 small jars red plum baby food

1 1/2 teaspoons red food coloring

Cream sugar and cooking oil. Add eggs; mix well. Add flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves which have been sifted together; mix well. Add baby food and food coloring. Bake in tube or Bundt pan which has been greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool 10 minutes in pan.

NOTE: Marilyn Hicks, Petaluma, California, sent an almost identical recipe. The only differences are that she increases the red food coloring to 2 tablespoons and the salt to 1/2 teaspoon. Also, she adds 1 cup chopped nuts.
